It was a fabulous Chamber of Commerce great weather day for our Lower Keys Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament which this year featured cash and prizes totaling over one million dollars held Sunday, December 6th at the Key West Golf Club on Stock Island. Bacardi donated bottles of Bacardi and Grey Goose Vodka, always a favorite with the golfers as well as the Centennial Bank Hot Dog Wagon volunteers, (JoAnn Saunders and Bob Moore) who served up hot pulled pork sandwiches (for breakfast, of course) to hungry golfers. John and Genevieve Isaksen of Isaksen’s Insurance and the Lower Keys Chamber provided a Hospitality Tent featuring Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers to put everyone in the right mood.

Golfers paired off in a four person scramble for cash prizes totaling $2000.00. First place winners were Mike Feltman, Carl Touchet, Dave Matea and Sawn Niles who took home $1,000.00. Second place went to Barbie Richard, Pat Linderman, Doug Carter and Bob Shank who took home $500.00, third place to Shawn Brown, Kevin O’Laughlin and Pat Rocky for $300.00 and rounding out fourth place were Brian Botsford, Mike Puto, Stan Haines and Kevin Zuelch who took home $200.00. The 60 Foot Putting Contest sponsored by TIB Bank of the Keys with a chance to win $5,000 was won by Victoria McFadyen who came very close to sinking that putt; Rita Eaton won the opportunity to win one million dollars on Hole 18 sponsored by Chicago Title of the Florida Keys but did not sink the putt. Doug Carter, Dave Patrocky and K. Urbinik “Beat the Key West High School Kids” (not an easy feat) for extra raffle tickets and the Lower Keys Chamber split the pot of $220.00 with the Key West High School Golf Team. Merchandise and gift certificates donated by many local businesses were awarded to golfers who made the longest putt or landed closest to the pin on each of eighteen holes as well as raffle items and the Chamber’s silent auction. Unfortunately, there were no winners for the Hole in One prize of $25,000.00

Many thanks to our major sponsors who help make it possible for the Chamber to put this tournament together and they are Specialty Hole Sponsors Chicago Title of the Florida Keys who sponsored the Million Dollar Hole Putt and TIB Bank of the Keys who sponsored the 60 Foot Putting Contest; Centennial Bank, Bacardi, Lower Keys Electric, Inc., Collectors Corner, First State Bank of the Florida Keys; Coca Cola Company, Suburban Propane, Waste Management, Pepsi Refreshment Services, Eagle Distributors Inc.; AT&T, The Real Yellow Pages, floridakeys.com; News-Barometer and Isaksen Insurance Company.
