It was a truly beautiful Chamber of Commerce day for our Lower Keys Chamber's Annual Million Dollar Golf Tournament held Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Key West Golf Club on Stock Island. Bone Island Chiropractic provided fresh baked muffins and pastries for a light breakfast, Centennial Bank Hot Dog Wagon volunteers, (Tim Saunders, Jo Ann Saunders and Bob Moore) cooked up hot dogs and hamburgers (for breakfast, of course) to hungry golfers. John and Genevieve Isaksen of Isaksen's Insurance provided a Hospitality Tent featuring Bloody Marys, to put everyone in the right mood.
Fifty three Golfers paired off in a four person scramble for cash prizes totaling $2,000 with prizes on all eighteen holes. First place winners were Jeff O'Neal, Garland Kight, Roger Williams and Bob Frankenbush who took home $1,000.00. Second place went to Eric Rauch, Paul Wright and Noel Rauch who took home $500.00, third place went to David Albright, Tom McDavitt, Larry Thomas and Tom Grassi for $300.00 and rounding out fourth place were Mike Syring, Mike Lefferts, Darren Oppenheimer and Steve Oppenheimer who took home $200.00. The Putting Contest was won by Mike Rivenbark, Jr. who received 4 Rounds of Golf at the Key West Golf Club for his efforts; not a single golfer was able "Beat The Kids" (two members of the Key West High School Golf Team) for extra raffle tickets. Merchandise and gift certificates donated by many local businesses were awarded to golfers who made the longest putt or landed closest to the pin on each of eighteen holes as well as raffle items and the Chamber's silent auction. Unfortunately, no one hit a hole-in-one for $10,000 on Hole #13 nor did Mike Leffers, chosen to take the "Million $ Putt" succeed. Maybe next year.
Many thanks to our major sponsors who help make it possible for the Chamber to put this tournament together and they are Abby Oglesbee, Realtor, Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate who sponsored the Million Dollar Putt; Waste Management, FloridaKeys.com, AT&T The Real Yellow Pages, Eagle Distributors, News Barometer, Pepsi Refreshment Services and Centennial Bank; Contributing Sponsors Patti Nickless, Realtor- Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate and John Acquaviva, Suburban Propane.
